Sleep is far more active than it appears, with the brain cycling through several distinct each night. During deep sleep, the body repairs tissue and strengthens the system. Later, in the dreaming phase, from the day are sorted and stored for the long term. Researchers warn that even modest sleep can weaken concentration and slow our reactions.
